The Opportunity

Assist with all facets of the product manufacturing within FQE Chemicals and assist with coordinating shipping and delivery activities. Ensure that chemical products are manufactured to specifications and delivered on time to customers and develop and manage efficient programs for acquisition and shipment of chemicals, equipment and supplies necessary for project performance. Provide accurate and in a timely manner, chemical inventory reports pertinent to monthly accounting requirements in general. Provide quality-related documentation and lead and direct manufacturing personnel in performance of duties as may be required. Assist in resolving manufacturing anomalies and customer problems as needed.

Ensures own and others’ compliance with all Company standards, policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists with all activities of the FQE Chemicals manufacturing division, and is responsible for assisting with all chemical manufacturing activities.
  2. Ensures compliance of manufactured products to defined specifications.
  3. Assists with the acquisition and management of all goods and supplies, to include chemicals, owned and rented equipment, safety items, necessary for projects/manufacturing. Responsible for ensuring that all goods and supplies defined for specific projects are ready for shipment and delivery on a timely basis.
  4. Monitors and reports to supervision trends in safety activities. Comply with all safety related policies of the corporation.
  5. Interfaces with company staff, as needed, to develop projects, manufacture products and resolve customer concerns.
  6. Provides technical support to the operations, technical and sales staff as required.
  7. Assist in establishing and maintaining supplier and vendor relationships for manufacturing requirements.
  8. Maintains and supports company practices and policies in accordance with company requirements.
  9. In conjunction with Research and Development, assists with developing specifications for chemicals and supplies and interfaces with material suppliers as required to establish accepted specifications.
  10. Monitors the quality of supplied goods. Reports to Manufacturing Manager as to disposition of manufactured products. Provides non-conformance reports on a timely basis.
  11.  Participates in management programs, as requested.
  12. Assists with company quality audits.
  13. Maintains control and integrity/confidentiality of quality related documentation (manufacturing procedures, formulations, product specifications, customer requirements etc.)
  14. Participates in safety/administration/job compliance internal audits. Assists with completion of corrective actions.
  15. Reviews finished product quality and consistency and advises Manufacturing Manager and Research and Development of non-compliant incidents and trends.
  16. Documents and assists with accident and near miss incident investigations related to the manufacturing operations and assists with developing correction plans to resolve problematic issues.
  17. Performs other duties as defined by management.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a chemical blending background.
  2. A functional understanding of chemical manufacturing activities is instrumental to the success of this position.
  3. Knowledge of organic chemistry, detergent and surfactant applications is highly desirable.
  4. In-depth knowledge of upstream, mid-stream, downstream and petrochemical processes.
